This Apartment Building In Italy Takes Eco-Friendly Design To A Childish Level

You may think designing a ‘green’ or eco-friendly building has to be boring and basic in its look, that is until you see 25 Verde. Located on 25th street in Turin, Italy, the apartment building pays homage to our childhood obsession with living in a treehouse hidden in a forest. The 63 units are surrounded by 150 tall trees, huge potted shrubs, and plants. This results in a harmonious micro-climate where the greenery naturally warms the building during cold months and cools during the hot summer.

Designer Luciano Pia wanted to ensure energy efficiency was maximized with the trees producing oxygen while also absorbing carbon dioxide and cutting down noisy pollution from the street. The best thing about living in this cool structure is residents can take pride in knowing they are playing a part in making the world a better place but more importantly, living in a place that reawakens our childhood fantasy.
