These Intimate Photos Of A Home Water Birth Are The Purest Form Of Beauty I’ve Ever Seen

Moments before a mother-to-be is about to deliver her baby, there is a flurry of activity in preparation for the big moment. Often, there are a lot of people in the room to offer a helping hand including someone on-hand to take pictures of the new arrival. Luckily, photographer Kathy Rosario is in her element as she captures each magical moment along the difficult but highly rewarding journey to motherhood during labor. She has already chronicled five births. Her latest captures a water birth.
“The mother in the story and I strongly believe that this needs to be shown to the world just to show other women that home water-births can be done safely,” says Rosario. The photographer found the atmosphere to be very calm with a scent of lavender in the room. The mom’s two other children, aged four and two, were also present during the delivery to create a place of quiet and peaceful relaxation. Here is a series of images documenting the contractions to the new mom breastfeeding her new addition.
